Hotel Boutique Casa Bichu-Eco-Spa
has taken eco-friendly travel to a mean, clean and
delectable green extreme. The hotel meets the needs of
discerning travelers as well as those environmentally
conscientious individuals who opt for a natural place of
beauty; one where the air is clean, the environment
toxin-free and, certainly, one that is gentle on Mother
Earth.
How is this for
eco-friendly? The new hotel and spa, which will open in
April 2009 in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, Mexico, is a
labor-intensive creation, built of ninety percent
natural materials down to the furnishings and lighting.
The overall affect allows a traveler to step into an
indigenous landscape (not just a concrete building) and
feel like he or she is part of a much bigger world.
Muted in the colors of nature that resemble the native
sands and trees, guests can choose from a one- or
two-floor cabana. Couples can whisper sweet nothings and
exchange an array of intimate moments tucked in
comfortable beds underneath palapa-style roofs covered
with palms. Lovers, too, will sleep as the sounds of the
Pacific Ocean wrap around them, and awaken, refreshed,
hearing the rhythmic waves an earshot away.
Moreover, the hotel’s focus
on environmental concerns has led it to build its own
power stations. As one would expect, inhabitants recycle
all natural products and gray water. Do be advised to
leave plastic containers, such as soda bottles and
plastic wrappers at home. The staff takes green
lifestyles seriously!
However, eco-concerns have
not overridden the premise’s sophisticated style.
Certainly not as a brainchild of Peter Kaiser, a native
German who, through his revolutionary vision and
uncompromising achievements, has garnered nothing less
than a five-star boutique eco-resort. “It was a private
home of a very well-known family, but we decided to make
it a luxury (property),” the general manager explains.
The nine luxury villas
(“spacious” is each one’s middle name) boasts a
comfortable and separate bedroom and living room. Open
the doors to the terrace outside. The ocean’s murmurings
will surely inspire the deepest sense of contentment
and, likely, a strong mood of romance. To help seal the
deal, travelers can expect full-modern amenities like
cable TV, air conditioning, mini bar, and the like.
Additionally, Peter says the hotel provides guests with
a leisurely drive from and to the airport through the
mountains in an upscale limousine.
Diners with the most
discriminating taste buds can rest assured that the
chefs will unveil the ultimate table fare. Describing
the on-premises restaurant, Peter says, “We will serve
fresh seafood and local dishes, organic fruit,
vegetables, coffee and chocolate.
“Hotel Boutique Casa Bichu-Eco-Spa
will offer very intimate special services to clients who
want to get away from all the daily hassles,” Peter
further elaborates.
The hotel will not only be attentive to the individual
needs of each traveler, but like its sister, Hotel
Hacienda Los Laureles-Spa in Oaxaca, the internationally
renowned, five-star property with 23 superb guestrooms
and suites, will offer a first-rate, traditional “temazcal,”
or indigenous steam bath. Modern-day warriors familiar
with the treatment can surely attest to the benefits of
the ancient Mexican purification ritual, with healing
the body, mind and spirit as its sole intention.
Conveniently, the hotel’s
staff will prearrange a combined vacation for interested
parties at both properties (Hotel Boutique Casa Bichu-Eco-Spa
and Hotel Hacienda Los Laureles-Spa). Additionally,
travelers can take advantage of the other customized and
tour packages.
“All tours and activities
are eco-visits to lagoons, coffee plantations;
(experience) organic farming, fishing and more.” Budding
chefs have the option of enrolling in a two- to
four-hour cooking class held on the beach terrace. Golf
enthusiasts can tee off at a course one hour in
proximity to the villas.
According to Peter, the “Bichu” in the hotel’s name
“stands for a special seashell in this area.”
Fortunately, there are plenty of places to scavenger
hunt for such seashore gems. The coastal village of
Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, located 250 kilometers (155 miles)
south of Oaxaca City, is synonymous with the real
Mexico. As if in a time warp, visitors encounter a
meager selection of paved roads and a robust village
known for its friendly people, variety of restaurants
and dotted with shops in which to purchase souvenirs.
The idyllic region brimming
with beaches, two of them with clear water, apart from
tourism, plays host as a quaint fishing village that was
founded in the late 18th century. Delights, such as
papaya trees, fuchsia, bougainvillea and palm trees
sweeten the landscape of the surrounding region. Once
reputed as “a safe harbor” for pirates and smugglers,
explorers who visit the region and sojourn at Hotel
Boutique Casa Bichu-Eco will certainly sense a feeling
of well being with their own semi-private beach to
enjoy.
Peter calls the hotel
“remote, very secluded, private, very secure”; one that
is “a perfect getaway” for romantic travelers, not to
mention a memorable backdrop for intimate weddings.
Once you experience Hotel
Boutique Casa Bichu-Eco-Spa, you will realize "Eco" is
the way to go!
